Haven't been here for a while

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I haven't been for a while as I've been working on my Pathfinder and been ignoring my Z. I don't want to start a fight, but has this site become unfriendly towards noobies of accidentaly stupid questions, or is it just me. We shouldn't forget where we all started. This is an awsome site and a wealth of information. I've owned my Z for over 10 years, but I always learn new things here. I don't think I've seen so many threads in the "tool shed" before. I know it's frustrating to answer the same questions over and over again, but we all weren't born as experts. I just think we should be a little more tolerant to noobies and the occasional dumb question. Just getting it off my chest. Thank you, I feel better now.

Brian

I thought the same thing... and I agree with you in some cases.

But... I just went back and read my first 20 or so posts.

Just to make sure I wasn't as dumb as I scoff at others for being.

I was generally uninformed, and some of my questions may have been a little noob-ish. But they weren't plain dumb, unreadable, and redundant.

Some cases do get out of hand, but for the most part, these questions are getting the responses they deserve.

Asking questions like "how do I put a motor X in my *insert year here* Z"

Are ridiculous to ask when the site is already pretty much dedicated to the question. You are never more than 3 clicks away from that answer.

I got a question of mine thrown in the shed a few weeks ago.

No big deal, Grow thicker skin.

I think a little harshness is good to keep people in check, even if it's directed at me once in a while...

Brian,

Yeah, lately we have seen a rise in posts going to the tool shed for sure. Since we now have some affiliation to Google we are getting a LOT more traffic from random searches and more new people registering. These new drop-ins then just post without understanding what this forum is dedicated to, or is about, let alone reading the rules. I recall one recent new member thought it was an IROC-Z forum and another one was asking Jeep questions.

Any how, there are quite a few newbie threads that are left alone, the blatant ones, well, they are given reason why their posts are being thrown in the shed, given a link to the rules an guidelines. In some instances, we’ll throw them a bone such as some search results, or what key words to search for.

Okay, as I said, it's been a while since I've been here and I was unaware of the sudden onslought of drop ins. I had a few too many last night and was a little irked to see my post that I corrected myself in the "tool shed". I understand why it was put there. Maybe i just get over sesitive after drinking too many girlie drinks. I don't care... they just taste so good
