Formula for wheel diameter

First you wanna find the diameter of the tire. The side wall height is the width (first number)multiplied by the aspect ratio (second number), then you wanna add the size of the rim.

For example: 245/45-16 The side wall height would be 245 mm (millimeters) times .45 (aspectratio is 45% of the width) equals 110.25 mm. The diameter of the rim is 16" times 25.4mm/" equals 406.4 mm. Hence the diameter of the wheel is 110.25mm + 110.25mm + 406.4mm = 626.9mm (note you have two sidewalls, top and bottom, in the diameter).

 

If you want it back in inches, you go like this: 626.9mm divided by 25.4mm/" =24.68"
