jsap
I never work on a car before, and got myself a 280Z few months ago hoping to learn how to work/fix car. The Z was driving fine for awhile. Now, the car is hard to start(takes 3 or more time to start the engine). After the engine starts, it will die again soon. Where should I start checking? The fuel pump? Fuel pump relay? What tools do I need? Any good website, or books I can learn more about car stuff? Thanks.
280Zone
Could be fuel pump, could be plugged filters of fuel line, corroded electric connectors. vacuum leak. Have you done anything to it recently that caused this problem to start? Where in AZ are you? There are a lot of books for "car stuff", the best book you can start with is a Datsun service manual for your specific car.
jsap
Thanks, 280Zone. I am in Tucson. I have not done anything to the car, beside drove it a few times before I got "busy" with my STI, and work. I am going to find the service manual, and "study". Hope I can figure the problem out. 280Zone
Since you are in Tucson, you aren't quite close enough to loan tools to. First thing i would do is confirm fuel pressure (consult manual) and fuel flow. Thena good spark at all plugs. Take the plugs out and see if they look rich or lean.
