Struts for coilovers short bodies or regular

I am wanting to get struts right now for my 72 240 but i dont have enuff to the coilovers right now. I figured i would come back to them later. But will the standard Illuminas work for coilovers later or do i need the short bodies ? and what is the purpose of the short bodies ?

If you do not plan to shorten or sectioned your strut tubes then regular strut cartridges will work. The term short body must refer to shorter strut cartridges for sectioned or shortened strut tubes web page scroll around on this website and you will see how to adapt 10 inch coilovers to sectioned strut tubes

What exactly is the benefit of sectioning ? the use of longer springs ?

More bump travel. Do a search, you will find a ton of info on this. Sectioning really depends on how your car will be set up.
