Guest TKR514
I'm doing a full restoration of my 79 280ZX. I just took out the fromt suspension and rested the front of the car temporarily on a small wheeled furniture dolly. The front of the car is now sitting about 2" lower than normal. The car looks great in that position! The tail of the car has always seemed too low or saggy looking in stock position with that big bumper on a ZX. Sooooo, is there a spring/shock combination that I can install in the rear to raise it about 1.5"?
Guest Anonymous
This might be a cheesy answer, but it worked for me. When winter came, I put a set of old wheels with better tires on my rear for better winter weather traction. These wheels are p195/75h14 while the original size on the front are p195/70h14. This suttle differnace gives the 1.5" or so of "lift" that you are looking for. The problem is you probably won't find 75 and 70 series wheels with the same treed pattern. Besides that, 75s are usually not the kind of quality worthy of a Z car. What I would do is put something like a 60 series in the front and a 70 in the back. It is far more likely that you will find a match that way. You are right, the 280ZX looks a little saggy in the bottom without it.
Modern Motorsports Ltd
I'd just build an upper strut mount bolt on spacer of desired thickness to install at the strut top......use good material and connections and it would be a very easy install and you can nail your desired height down. I've thought of making these but didn't feel their was enough need to justify producing them. If your present suspension is fine, then it's a simple and affordable solution. If you want I could have them made for you, just drop me a personal email if that's the case.
Guest TKR514
I don't know about using a spacer, since the through bolts are kinda short on top of the strut. Any chance of other Nissan's having a longer strut that would fit the hole pattern?
