Not sure where to put this but since it deals with 6 cyl figured this is the best place for it.i have a 1981 nissan patrol mq lwb,it has the 2.8l 6 cyl in it-same basic engine as the 280z.it is real low on power and has no torque, factory new rating is only 120 hp and this engine is tired.prtobly only has 80 hp left in it lol.this is one of less than 50 of the mq series in the us and i want to keep it all nissan because of it.

im looking at several options for it

1st-rebuild this engine and add a cam and header and keep the stock intake and carb and upgrade to electronic ignition-has points in it now

issues with this-would only get around 140-150 hp,carb is a euro spec carb and parts are hard to get for it

2nd- swap in a 280z or 280zx turbo engine-150-200 hp rig is already set up for this engine and will keep it looking almost totaly stock

issues-cant find a decent running 280 lol and wiring up the efi system

no second tcase

3rd-swap in a 3.0 from a hardbody with its tranny/tcase combo which would give me dual tcases with will greatly help it off road, would have more power than i have now-140-150hp,be efi with elec ign and on the earlyer years it is a fairly simple tbi set up

issues-would need a complete donor rig for harness and all accesories for the engine

4-swap in a 3.0 from a 300,200-250 hp???? with a tranny tcase combo from a hardbody

issues-lot more wiring, hard to find donor rig,not sure it has the same bellhousing as the truck 3.0

thoughts?? ideas???

heres a pic of it
