Painting in cold weather

Will it work to paint a car in the winter if it's painted in a semi-heated barn? The barn could probably be heated to 60 degrees, but only for the application of paint, not continuously as it cures.

The paint that we're going to use is a an alkyd enamel applied over old paint with no new primer.

I have my doubts, but has anyone ever done this?

I would check one the spec sheet I would bet it says 70 deg. I have painted in a barn when It was 70 and it got windy and cold and the second the temp started to drop the paint started going crazy and I just dont thing it dries correctly so I would say make shure its 70 or above. I dont know about where you live but I always see paintbooths for rent on craigslist for about 100-300 dollars

70 degrees is perfect for painting, the hotter the better for curing...given the time of year it can only get so hot. from personal experience around 85 degrees ambient temperature paint starts doing some crazy $HIT! if i were you i'd wait til the later part of march if your going to be painting basicly outside
