Starter clicking (not the solenoid)

So I turn the key and the engine will try to turn over (maybe 180degrees)but then the starter quits and I get this repetitive clicking. Its not the solenoid where you get a single click. I took the fan out to check if it was seized but it actually turned over quite easily. All power and grounds are firmly in place. New bat, even tried with the new bat AND a jump with no change. Rant click click click click click.... My guess is the starter is shot. Anyone else have any ideas, info or experience to add? Thnx in advance.

check the battery cables....cheap fix, take you old ones off and go up to auto zone and get new ones. On the older Chevy Tahoe's they had the same problem, like to solenoid was out or low battery...and even after replacing both it would still do it. What it was is there is corrosion that builds up inside the wire, and with the Tahoe's, it was right where the little bolt bolted into the battery terminal and you cant see it because it is in the wire. The corrosion creates a lot of resistance in the wire and doesn't let the solenoid get enough amperage. Hope that helps some!

Cables themselves are pretty good, the terminal clamps are a bit corroded but I figured a new bat along with my truck jumping it at 3k rpm would be enough. Car only has 60k miles on it. I'll try new terminal clamps and check with the multi before a shell out on a starter. Thanks for your input guys
