JSM
I asked Mr. Zgad this and his thoughts were it would cost to much to make along with a smaller wastegate. Just wanted some others thoughts on this too. Instead of selling the setup I have listed in the for sale section I wanted to have a pipe fabed that would go from 60mm Vband to 44mm Vband. I've read so many cons on the cheap wastegates, so I'm stuck mentally with wanting to use Tial, but I can't see spending 600+ for a 60mm WG. I was going to sell the setup to fund a different turbo with an internal wastegate. I need 400HP like i need a hole in my head. Anyway, what do you think it would cost to get a pipe like this made so I could run a smaller wastegate of 44mm? I'm not doubting Mikes advice, I just want to hear it from more than one person. JSM
Sorry, wrong forum. Mods can you move this to the turbo section?
BirdmanZ
Check Stony's thread in the RB section. He says his knockoff wastegate worked flawlessly.
Evan Purple240zt
Would seem like no big deal to fabricate, just maybe take a little time. I love my TIAL btw, and would not replace it. Its dead reliable, and never had any problem with it over the last few years. Evan
JSM
Reading in this thread helped me answer this question. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=122709&highlight=vband At least the website, www.atpturbo.com had very good info and sold some of the Vband parts. Anyway, here is the breakdown: 60mm WG Cost $595.00 44mm WG cost $375.00 $20 44mm flange $29 60mm flange $49 60mm clamp (ouch) $40 Tubing $50 Fab Total $563 Not really worth it.
