Bellhousing Q's

Does anybody know the specifics of chevy bellhousings? Can I use any old bell, from a stickshift car or truck. Are there differences from a 153 t. application to a 168 t.? Is there a specific castingnumber I should look for?

I'm gonna run a 350 and a T5 with a 153t. flywheel.

My trans is a Ford that is being trans(pun)-planted into a chevy case. What is the distance from engine mating surface to trans mounting surface, with the proper bell? I.e. what is the depth of the bellhousing?

The reason I ask this is because the ford input shaft is longer than the chevy and I need to figure out what to do with it.

Does anybody have other thoughts on this.

Thanks Thure
