BLKMGK Posted November 5, 2001 Share Posted November 5, 2001 The OEM T56 bellhousing from a 93-97(?) T56 install is what you want. I don't think there are any other GM housings out there. Make sure you've not got an LS1 trans too - those 56 are "different". I'm pretty sure the LT1 bellhousing will fit a 40 just fine. You'll likely need a Centerforce flywheel though. Figure $250 for it (shiver). Clearance for the clutch arm is no biggie - the motor will be offset to the passenger side if you do the JTR setback anyway. The only cuttingbanging on my 240 was to remove the stock trans mounts and to ding the firewall a touch. The rest fit fine with just a little bumping for the reverse switch The 280 chassis may even have a wider tunnel... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
