Guest 400 ci 280z
i am doing a engine swap and was wondering if the r200 can handle the power made by a stock pontiac 400ci engine. thanks for any help
Guest zfan
Yes you shouldnt have a problem. The 200 rearend is being used by many here including myself. But like anything if you abuse it enough it will die. zfan...Mike

Guest Tom Scala
Being a long time Pontiac guy I'd like to see a picture of that. Are you using the Edelbrock Aluminum heads or stock iron? Just remember the Pontiac engine is a torquer and will make more low end torque than a 400SBC. 450+ ft lbs is easy to get and you'll have it by 3500-4000rpm. The R200 is strong but shock loading with a stick trans and Pontiac torque would make it very marginal. If you use an auto and don't run slicks you should be ok.
