1977 fairlady 280z project

Recommended Posts

k guys i am finaly getting the pictures up that you requested! for all that dont know i am starting my fairlady restore! She really doesnt need a major restore just a good drivetrain overhaull, pluss i plan to stroke the 2.8L so i figured i should just go over the whole thing anyways!

To start a little about my car. Its a 1977 280z 2+2 She only has 56,000 original miles! i am the third owner and she has been takin care of pretty well. . .(could have been better) but im not complaining!

The reason for the rebuild. the syncos from 2nd gear to 3rd gear are gone. (who ever has been driving her didnt know how to shift from 2nd to third) it must be hard to learn how to shift with your left hand i guess....:rolleyesg

anyways.... i wanted to keep the numbers matching to keep the value still reasonable so i decided to stroke the 2.8L. i wanted the extra power but nothing to much, just keep her stock but with some hiddin power under the hood. . .

The interior isnt bad at all, almost 100% just two small tears in the seats but nothing that cant be taken care of, and of course the dash has some cracks.... other then that shes perfect.

The body and paint is in really good condition, when i recieved her in 2005 the paint was fadded but what do you expect from the original paint.... i spent $110 and had her profesionaly buffed and waxed... i wanted to see how it would look. . . WOW what a difference. . She looked brand new, i couldnt believe my eyes. . . yes there is a small imperfection here and there but thats ok i wouldnt expect much less.... i do plan on getting here compleatly repainted when i get everything else done but till then i wont complain she still is a dimond in my eyes!

So, i started with the fuel system, removed the tank cause there was some rust and am in the process of having it relined. i removed some of the electrical because some things didnt seem to right, (due to the fact that the first owner installed a crappy stereo and didnt know what he was doing) and some other things seemd out of place..... but im getting there i did mannage to get a wiring diagram and printed off the scamatic so that was a huge help! Then i removed the transmision, driveline and rear end and axles. not to hard at all, i was really suprised. . . im at the point now were i plan to clean and start to rebuild the parts i have out now, then from there ...... i really havent thought that far ahead yet!

Well guys let me know what you think so far! And if you have any advice please feel free to share!

Ill keep you al posted and updated!
