Opinions on a diff for my RB26dett w/ rwd tranny? Need help...

So i am now in the process of looking for a diff to complete my project, but i can seem to make a decision. I've read plenty of people's thread and post about their setups, but i still can seem to decide on which to use. There are so many different opinions about the different differentials, im getting confused on which one to actually go with. As of right now, i actually scored on a free r33 gst-t short nose r200, buts going to need some refurbishing... Any recomendations for you guys with the same setup? Im basically seting up this car for street driving and occasional drag racing... Plz help.

thanks

I'm using a Z31 R200 w/clutch pack LSD and the factory 3.7:1 R&P.

I don't feel you need to go very exotic on the diff unless you're making some pretty crazy power or you need to get a gear ratio that better fits your needs.

Where are you located in San Jose? I'm in Mountain View... Shoot me a PM!

I've run a 3.7 r200 for a while with my RB26 swap. It is mainly street use with some track days. I found for track use that the ratio was too low and that (on my particular track at least) I was largely in 2nd/3rd gear the entire time. On the street it was basically fine and on the freeway I found that I was turning about 3000 rpms at 70mph.

I believe the RB25det trans is paired with a 4.08 (or 4.11?) ratio in the stock GTS-t skylines. Given the 240z is much lighter going that far back up in ratio may not be necessary but acceleration would probably be improved. However since you already have the diff I would suggest trying it. I just spoke with Gabe at TechnoToyTuning and he has a diff mount package ($450, for mustache and front diff mount) that will work for our cars with the short nose R200.

I do have an extra 3.9 longnose and a 240sx short nose (4.08) that I am going to try in the next few months to see how much it changes things.
