Hello all,

I am looking to get back into Z's again. My last 280Z was setup for autocross racing. I was about to drop in a 280ZXT motor, but sold the car. I used to be a Hybridz member (I think under NicBucholz or just Nic) but that was a long time ago.

So, I'm looking to do the V8 swap or pick-up on some ones project car. I have cash in hand for something that is near Nor Cal. My price range is $0-$4,000 respectively. Listed below are the major areas of concern. They are more like guidelines than anything else.

Exterior - just needs to be strait with no or very little rust. I can paint and do body work so the existing paint is not critical. I know a lot of these cars have oxidized original paint so that is ok with me. I will mod the exterior myself, if needed, shaving almost everything.

Interior - needs to be 80% complete and in decent shape (no need for a show winner) but I don't want a hollowed-out boat.

Suspension - upgraded preferred, but stock is totally acceptable. I will be upgrading with Tokico and Eibach springs, struts, sways and braces.

Brakes - upgraded preferred, but stock is totally acceptable. I will go with the inexpensive Toyo 4 pistons and 300ZX rotors up front. I have an extra set of factory plates to mount stock ZX discs in the rear.

Transmission – I am looking for a manual transmission car, but I have converted from automatic to manual so if the price is right this will not make a difference to me.

Rear axle – R200 preferred, but for the right price I will swap out the R180 myself.

Running or not – If it runs, great! If not that is fine too since I will be gutting the drive train to drop in my 350 (bored to 355).

Electrical – I have rewired these cars so I know how to deal with them. If yours is a show-winner but the electrical is shot I may still be interested since this stuff does not scare me. Let me know if the heater core is shot or fan not working, I have replaced them before, but only if the price still works.

Basic mechanical – If it is running and can be driven right away I would prefer the basics work such as door handles, latches and what-not.

I am a reasonable guy, so please be honest. I would be happy to check out what you might have to offer. You can email me with pics and questions (nicbucholz@comcast.net) and we will go from there. I have been looking at the market for a while now and just wanted to help get the word out I was looking. Thank you for your feedback and I hope we can work to help each other.
