As if I needed another hobby... I want to get rid of my Isuzu Rodeo and get an old Land Cruiser so I can stop making payments. I'm thinking an early FJ40 with a hardtop. (Looks kinda like a Jeep CJ only better.) In my search for the perfect(ly priced) FJ40, I found out about someone who is putting the entire 4WD drivetrain of an FJ40 into a 280Z!

Here's a copy of the message about it.

I will update you all as I learn more.

Incidentally, the early land cruisers were also candidates for V8 swaps. I may or may not get one with a V8, but my point is that it stands to reason that if you can put an FG40 drivetrain in a 280z, you can probably still fit a V8 in with the rest of the drivetrain. hmm. Fun to think about anyway.

Hello Rob,

Yes, his name is Ogre. Well, he has great plans, but I don't think

anything is built yet. The cool thing is that the FJ40 wheelbase fits

his 280z perfectly. All he needs to do is change the firewall a bit and

lift the body waaay up, with some type of subframe. He's got a ford

engine which will lower the hood profile a lot... I don't think the

original F engine would have fit under the 280z hood even with the

body lift.

> me a link to his page, or forward this on to him?

I'll forward this on to him, no prob.
