texis30O
I am going to build my own splitter/belly pan on my car. In the coming few weeks I am going to install my fiberglass hood cut vents for it, install front airdamn and do some custom fiberglass work on it as well. While I am putting on these pieces I am going to make my own splitter that will mount directly under the airdamn and extend to at least the crossmember where the steering rack is located. I need to know what thickness I need to use so that it will be able to withstand the forces of the wind as well as maybe some road debris..........Iam not afraid to tackle this on my own because I think it is fairly simple but I need some direction as to the material to use. I am wanting to use Aluminum......My current options are .040 , 16 gauge, and 14gauge........Anyone have any suggestions?
Roostmonkey
I'd go with the 16 ga aluminum ( .05" ) but you could use anything you mentioned. Go with whatever is most available.
texis30O
you got any extra laying around you shop. You guys do some nice work....Thanks for the info. I think I am going to pick up the 16 ga piece next week some time. I can always use the rest for other things that I want to do anyway.......
