Stereos: Pics of your system and what you love about good music

I know I pour more money into my zed than is good for my health, however I find even though I do, I’m not solely a car man and I also have interests in other, equally expensive, hobbies. One enjoyment of mine for years has been decent sounding HiFi music. I’m not a huge fan of surround sound and still love a good HiFi system for enjoyment of movies and music over any other system.

Still living at home has its constraints and after my last stereo got ‘stolen’ to be rigged up to the big TV and I found myself getting sick of my crappy computer speakers I decided it was time to upgrade. I did plenty of shopping around on the net for good deals and reviews, but as is always the case with these things, once I got to the store I was severely disappointed by what I desperately wanted to buy. I was looking at the Cambridge Audio 340 series stuff but after having a listen to many systems and changing my mind several times, ended up walking out with:

AMC 3100a 2ch Integrated Amplifier

Energy Reference Connoisseur RC10 bookshelf speakers

Pro.DAC MkII USB DAC (in the post)

These together join my recently purchased Audio Technica AD700 Headphones to complete whet is a superb set-up. Far better than the room i have them in, but thats the point - they are supposed to last far longer than I will at my parents place.

So does anyone else here have a passion for good sounding music? If so, this is the place to discuss what you enjoy, what you have in your home, what started you onto good music, and everything in-between.

Another hobby which consumes my time as much (Actually more) as cars and costs me just as much.

I started with a NAD T773 surround sound amp (really nice sounding amp with music). But after realising how good stereo could sound ended upgrading to a Electrocompaniet ECI-5 2 channel Amp.

My speakers are B&W 805s stand mount, source is still just a NAD DVD player (Still contemplating which CD player to upgrade to).

Oh, also have a Yamaha 5 CD changer that hasn't been used in a couple of years (Just doesn't sound as good through a decent amp).

My stereo system consists of my PC and my audiotechnica ath-pro5v's

not much, but for only costing me 60 bucks they sound really nice.

I've done nothing but listen to music with them since I got them last thursday, and I've had to modify the pads because they were too thin, causing the drivers to press against my ears. Easy fix though, I just stuck some old pads underneath the original pads and now they're the most comfertable headphones ever.

the soundcard I have is an OLD soundblaster live card, I only really keep it around because of all computers I've owned, it's the ONLY component that is still around. sounds good too
