J.T.
I bought a 1973 240z off of Ebay 5years ago and have spent more time having it towed than actually driving it. The problem is it will run great (long enough for the mechanic to have me pick it up) then it breaks shortly after getting it home. I've had the top end rebuilt, new carb, new fuel tank, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new alternator, new starter, the crane fireball photo ignition was just rebuilt. Anyone had similar problems with Crane??? Full power and driving fine at 8am on Saturday. I let it sit a few hours and came back to go to the grocery store and it died coming out of the garage and never started up again. Ugh. Any advice greatly appreciated. I can't handle thinking I will be able to drive it and thenm have it do the same thing over and over again.
Evan Purple240zt
I had a crane box just crap out on me. Switch to MSD if its a huge concern! Evan
ezzzzzzz
Crane is Allison repackaged. They bought them out years back. Maybe it's heat soak. Where is the control box located? You might spray some compressed air over it when it doesn't start to see if that 'cures' it. You could find a later stock electronic distributor or just replace the control box. MSD is great when it runs. I had failures with their products back in my early years of Camaros and small blocks. Others did too.
