Alternator Swap (with Amp Gauge)

I am attempting this swap, but using a GM alternator.

I have a '75 280z which like the 260z has an AMP gauge and not a volt gauge.

 

I have finished wiring up the alternator side, but have a question/problem about the regulator side.

 

When looking at the plug, my car totally lacks the green/red wire in hole 1.

 

Vs.

 

I know that the White (2) & Yellow (3) wires should be joined, but since the Green/Red wire is missing in my harness, do I NOT connect up the Black/White wire?

 

I plan on sticking with the amp gauge since it is original to the car. Does the gauge function after the swap?
