Scott_M67
Does anyone know if there are multiple manufacturers of replacement 280z rocker panels or if one brand/source fits better than another? TIA, Scott
NCchris
I'm in the middle of replacing mine now, one done, one to go. The only replacements I could find were Tabco. They fit OK, just be very carefull when you trim them to fit. Also do one side at a time so you can reference the other side for location. Good luck with your repairs. Scott_M67
Thanks Chris, by fitting OK do you mean they could fit a whole lot better? Where did you have to do most of the trimming on those?
NCchris
Thanks Chris, by fitting OK do you mean they could fit a whole lot better? No, they fit fine. They are a flat surface all around, so if your prep work on the existing material is flat and straight, thats about as good as it gets. Mine got bent and had to be straightened after struggling with all the spot weld removal. Where did you have to do most of the trimming on those? Since they are stamped out in a punch and die and not trimmed at all, you have to trim all around. I trimmed the top to size first then left everything that I could large and trimmed after welding. The original rockers are spotwelded all around so you will want to drill holes in the flange all around so you can plug/rosette weld the new rockers in. HTH! Scott_M67
Perfect, thanks again. I guess I'm going with TABCO, at least they are pretty cheap to buy.
