Has anyone used the stock 280z ebrake line with the 280zx rear disk conversion?

Recommended Posts

Ive been wrestling around with my e brake cables trying to get them to line up with the 280zx caliper ebrake arm.

My question is do you have to use the earlier 240z brake cables for this to work? From what I know the 240z's are just shorter, thats something Ive been trying to imitate by trying the get rid of any slack I can by using the left cable on the right side and vis versa.

It appears that with the long brake cable you have to go over the half shaft (as it did with the drums) switch directions and go back under the halfshaft and plug into the e brake arm. This makes it where its basically touching the half shaft and the sway bar end link, with something alot shorter you could just come strait in from the front.

I really dont want to buy another set of cables nor do I want to wait for them to come in. Anyone have an idea on what to do?

SETUP-

Z race products brackets

83 280zx 2+2 calipers and rotors

Stock 78 e brake lines.

Thanks for the help!

This is I guess what it should look like. If you look right behind the caliper you see the cable coming in. Its coming in from the front rather than how I explained it above. Going over the halfshaft then back under it the opposite way and into the caliper..
