Guest Anonymous
I just installed a transmission in a Z for a friend of mine. But I'm not sure of its' origin. The original was a standard Z five speed with L5 stamped in the side of it. This one has NMCA#1 cast into the bell housing and the gear housing, the bell housing was also a little thicker at the bottom making the two 12mm bolt/nuts to short and it has a sleeve on the back of it to protect the driveshaft which the other did not have. Also it has L4 cast in the bell housing, but it is a five speed. Any help would be appreciated. God Bless, Rick,
myjunkyard
I also have this same transmission that I'm rebuilding. I ordered bearings and they match for a fs5w71c trans. I don't know which car or truck this is from but it seems like it is either 84-88 200sx 83-87 300zx 84-86 720 truck My trans has all brass syncros, 1st and 2nd syncro rings being larger than 3rd and 4th. This also has one 5th ring that is even smaller yet.
myjunkyard
Am I right in assuming that you were able to use the original shifter with this trans?
