Guest Anonymous
I know this question has been asked a hundred times, but since I never kept updated with the answers, I have to ask. I washed my engine on my 1982 280ZX and when I went to drive away, it wouldn't go over 2000 rpm. It was like there was a governor kicking on. Drax240z
Likely water in the distributor cap, or in the throttle position sensor. Take the cap off the distributor and wipe it dry inside. The TPS also comes apart fairly easily and just needs to be dried out.
BLKMGK
Silicone spray or WD-40 in th ecap also works great - on wires too. WaterDispersing-try#40 works great
Guest Anonymous
I think it was water. I let the car sit for the 100 degree heat day and the next morning I went out and started it. It ran fine. Thanks everyone on you help.
