pdp260z
My brake-modified Z needs new brake pads. I'd like to put ceramics on that won't eat the rotors. I can't find two sets of the "same" composition. The brakes have been modified along the usual Z lines. The front calipers I have are the s12+8 solid rotor units from a toyota 4x4. The rear's have been converted to discs using 240sx rear calipers. My first problem is decoding the marketing language on the pad compositions. My car is a performance street unit, a fast daily driver. The language on autocross-only pads is pretty clear, while what might be applicable to a street car is pretty wishy-washy. I can guess which pads I don't want easily, not so well on what would probably be ok. The second problem is finding the same manufacturer and pad composition for both sets of calipers. There does not seem to be much crossover between the 4x4 and drifter crowds. I'd like to go same-same front&rear to avoid issues with different warm-up rates and the like. Has anyone cracked this nut before? Can you recommend particular manufacturer/pad-compositions that have worked well for your similar street needs?
