Guest RXO510
We are looking for a good source to the wiring schematics for the '71 240Z. We have the Chilton's manual, but it's just no cutting it for us. We are waiting for the CD to come out, but we're not sure when that might be available just yet. Anybody with a factory manual with the wiring schematics that they can send to us would be soooooo appreciated. This Z is an electrical hazard just waiting to burn up. Much better now though. No more fuses popping. Drove us crazy! having fun though! Any information please. Thanks. J & G
Guest Anonymous
I have not yet seen a 1971 manual but I can tell you that there is no full car schematic for the 1972 240Z. The manual still has all the individual circuits broken down but no fold-out schematic in the back. No line on scheduling for the 1971 CD conversion. Guest RXO510
Thanks Craig. I got your e-mail the other day and I know the CD is not available yet or when that might happen is still up in the air. Keeping our fingers crossed. Wishful thinking. Hopefully I can get some info on our Z. Thanks again. J & G

Guest Anonymous
J&G, Please let me know how that full schematic looks. I have yet to figure out Nissan's method with manuals. For the most part, they were consistent with section names and information but some have a full schematic and some don't. I was shocked to learn that the 1996 300ZX manual did NOT have a full schematic
Guest Anonymous
I have the 72 chassis manual and its hard to read its schematic at best. If you use something like that, be sure and find your reading glasses or magnifying glass you WILL need them, a small highlighter helps too. Regards and good luck, Lone
Guest RXO510
Aloha Sunny. Thanks for faxing over the wiring schematic for us. That's going to be a big help to us. Really appreciate it. I'm going to take it to Kinko's to see if I can blow it up bigger and make it easier for us to read. My fax isn't the greatest machine. Please let me know if you can possibly e-mail that page to me. Then I can pinpoint certain areas of the schematic with the PC and print it out when I need to. Very much appreciated. Aloha J & G
Guest Anonymous
RXO510-WIRING PROBLEM THE DIAGRAM i SENT IS ACTUAL SIZE. NISSAN DOES GO INTO MORE DETAIL FOR DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WHAT IS THE SECTION YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEM WITH?? Guest RXO510
Hey Sunny. Unfortunately my little brother Gabe did not thouroughly check out the Z before buying it. I would say that the whole electrical should be replaced. The wires are all messed up. Looks like different color wires and harnesses were used to put this thing back to order. The front of the Z has a bunch of wires spliced and cut. No horns. Alternator wires are a mess. 2 fuses are not being used out of the fuse box. Trying to figure out where those 2 go still. Actually the wiring schematic you sent is perfect, but my fax machine didn't make a good copy is all. I figured if I got it by e-mail it would be much better. That schematic will work fine. Tried to clear it up and blow up the fax you sent at Kinkos, but it didn't come out very good. I'm going to try making copies at my friends work today. Thanks again, aloha J & G
Guest RXO510
We appreciate your help. You're only 15 minutes away from me. You don't have to mail it out to me. I can come by and pick it up if you like. Thanks for calling and letting me know. I think having different versions of the wiring schematics will also be helpful. So far I have a pretty decent factory one(thanks Sunny), I got the Chilton one and now the Haynes one(thanks FastZ) I'm sure I can rewire the whole car now with a painless wiring kit. Thanks everybody! J & G

Guest RXO510
Hey Sunny! Got your other fax for the engine and instrument harness. Going to take that to Kinkos to see if I can make it more readable and enlarge them. This one guy did a pretty good job with the other fax even though it make terrible printouts. He did a good job for me and enlarged it. Good start for us. Very much aprreciated. Aloha J & G
Guest Anonymous
RXO510-WIRING PROBLEM I FAXED TWO MORE DETAILED ELECTRICAL WIRING BREAKDOWNS=ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CAR INTERIOR. THESE DIAGRAMS SHOULD HELP EVEN MORE. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO LOOK IN THE JUNKYARD FOR A USED WIRING HARNESS. A 71 DATSUN Z DOESN'T HAVE A VERY COMPLEX ONE AND SHOULD BE CHEAP. NOTICE THAT YOU CAN JUST CHANGE CERTAIN SECTIONS OUT. MOST MECHANICS WILL TELL A SCREWED UP HARNESS CAN DRIVE YOU CRAZY. GOOD LUCK-ALOHA SUNNY
Guest RXO510
Really appreciate your help Sunny! Thanks again! Hey LUIS, I got a call from you this morning but you must have been on your cell. All I heard was "Hey james this is Luis...... and then nothing but choppy words. Cell phone was breaking up so I'm not sure what you were trying to tell me. Please get in touch with me or call again when you get a chance. Thanks
