Iceman
Are all of the steering racks from the S30s (including 2 vs 2+2) interchangeable? (excluding right-hand drive, of course) Any change in ratio? I have a 70 240z and need a steering rack and want to avoid pulling something from the junkyard that wont match up. Any advice on inspecting before pulling? I only know to check for rust and boot conditions.
AkumaNoZeta
From what I've heard the 240Z have a 15:1 steering ratio while the 260Z and 280Z have like a 16.5:1 or something. Don't take it as fact because I never did that much searching for it. In fact I want to see what others say about this too.
fastzcars
Yes and no. Yes that they are interchangible IF you get there corresponding mounting bushings/doughnuts. The 240 and early 260's racks have a smaller O.D. on the mounting pads thus the bushing's are thicker. The late 260 and 280's are larger and so the bushings are thinner. You just have to get the right bushings for the racks. BTW I have a rebuilt rack That I'm not using any longer. PM me if your interested.
