FWI ISUZU TO GM ADAPTION

I found a rather interesting website that was saying the bellhousing on the ISUZU built pickup truck/SUV trucks of the late to early nineties 2.8l tranny have the same bolt pattern's as:

Chevy 3.1 V-6, and 3.4 V-6

Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L DOHC V-8

Cadillac 4.5 and 4.9 Pushrod Northstar V-8

Cadillac 4.5L DOHC Northstar V-8

Just thought I'd share the info, who know you may have a aurora motor and want a manual tranny to fit behind it. In my case my 89 Isuzu 4wd is not doing real well, and well, it just seems wrong to put a stock motor back in... I'd think a northstar or even the chevy 3.4 (wonder if the DOHC motor has the same pattern.. probably :D )would make for some added guts which it never had, I'm not sure how well it would take the power (the drivetrain) but if the rest of the truck is any indication its built damn beefy. Just thought I'd share, maybe it'll help you in a trivia knowledge game someday... :D

Man, you could have a lot of fun with one of those other motors. That's great information! Heh heh, maybe you'll do a swap on the pickup and drive to Fremont sometime!! :D

I'll try to visit you before you head out...

I guess it makes sense...

The Isuzu pickup trannys were made by borg-warner.. GM actually has a 49% stake in Isuzu... the other 51% is fuji heavy industries (subaru)

Plus Isuzu has had many ventures with GM... from wayy back in the day (when I wasnt born yet Isuzu made the Chevy LUV trucks?? and now the current Isuzu Hombre is actually a Chevy S10 but offered in super stripped models...

I have a 2wd pickup and it has the "borg-warner whiner"

trans is probably the best manual shifter i have driven in a pick up... sounds horrible but thats why they call it a whiner...

thats hard to find... a Isuzu forum!!!

people there are great people too.. very nice, very mature, and very helpful... just like hybridZ but... well their cars are booring!!!!!

I didn't know that Subaru was involved in Isuzu, thats interesting. I've been pretty happy with the truck, its held up well, doesn't squeek or rattle really, wish they had continued importing it and not gone with the rebadged S10's, oh well, no matter its not like I could afford a new car payment anyway.

BTW, those old Luv (light utility vehicle, isuzu wasn't just being cute) trucks swallow a V8 very nicely as well. I knew a dude that had a blown prostreet LUV that rocked (same with the old Mazda based FORD import the courier pickup, those make great prostreeters as well IMHO).

I had a 71 Datsun pickup that I was going to put a Buick 350 and TH350 in (got the whole donor car for helping build a motor for an uncle). However, after I got the truck disassembled to the frame, my parents got divorced, we had to move, and I sold the pile of parts for $60.
