I was just wondering how hard it is to switch and automatic with a manual transmission. Is it hard to do and what kinds of other parts would I have to install? (besides the transmission) Thanks everyone.

If you are switching a zee , you will need the clutch peddle, hydraulic clutch cylinder with plumbing to the slave cylinder on the tranny, clutch ,pressure plate and throw out bearing and a lot of patience and a little time. It is also difficult to install a manual transmission without pulling the engine. I have done it with engine in place by using real long bolts to pull the two together and carefully align the transmission shaft to the engine receptacle which is like trying to get dog and cat to mate.It would take me a good two days to do it and you will have to figure the parts will run you at the minimum of $200.00

I did it on my 77' Coupe. Dropped in a T-5 from an 83'T.

Get all the plumbing (i.e. complete pedal assym., clutch master, clutch slave, stock rubber hydrolic line and stock metal prebent line). The Z's are cool because they have factory pre-fab hole for the clutch master.

When you pop in the new pedal assym. I suggest pulling the entire peace including the brake pedal from the donor car. It is super easy to swap with your auto assym. since the mounts are identical. You have to pull the dash (don't panic) I had mine out in five mins. It's easy, almost too easy.

The one thing I wanted to tell you (then I started to ramble) be VERY VERY VERY VERY sure to put in a bushing/bearing at the flywheel. The automatic trans crank will not have this and it will need to be installed. I think the only place to get it is like Napa Auto ($4 wow). You need it. It is a bearing like the crank shaft so it hase no moving parts and it is commonly made of copper. If you fail to do this, the input shaft may and will tear it-self apart!

Ok I'm done.
