I wanted to set the pins up to where the hood stays open about an inch so that it would let cool air in at speed. Guest nezzie76 Posted July 10, 2002 Share Posted July 10, 2002 I've got those locking hood pins on my Z. I bought the car like that and the guy that put them on did a really quick job on it. So as a result the hood sits up about an inch the the windshield. It seems to help cooling as the fan is able to blow the heat out through it. However it seems to attract alot of attention. People are always asking me when I'm going to fix it. I think that it results in about as much cooling as the hood vents on the 77-78 hoods.
