creature comforts (electric)

I am looking into installing electric door locks, power windows, and a hatch button. I was wondering what any of you guys have experimented with, and which ones you would recomend for quality. My ideal setup (envisioned) would be an alarm system that has the extra button on the little remote that unlocks the doors, the hatch shaved and smoothed with the unlock button mounted by the drivers seat on the floor like hondas, and the window controlls in the car mounted to the door panel in the original crank handle "hole". I've been researching this idea and could use a bit of ol' fashioned trial and error stories and reccomendations. Thank you for your time! rockon.gif

Nice, welcome.. This subject was visited just recently and your lack of response may be due to burnout with little spark left. research the threads for the last couple weeks and you will probably find it. You may be able to modify some of the 280 Zx parts such as electrical windows.

I've got nothing against creature comforts in a car like the Z. Adding power window lifts, locks, and an alarm won't add but maybe 20 lbs, but will give a lot of convenience.

I just started adding power locks to my 260 (with the early, 240-style doors) and managed to get the driver's door hooked up with not much problem, except for the shallow door depth. The window regulator only allows for about an inch of clearance, so you need to get lock motors that are fairly skinny.

There's a bunch of space in the driver's kick panel to mount the control boxes up and out of sight, so at least that's not an issue. Look for more in the next week or so, as I complete the project and post pictures.
