Guest Anonymous
Getting ready for a 60k maintenance on my 93 300ZX N/A. One step 'scares me' and I wanted some advice from y'all. Step reads that if you cannot take crank sproket off easily, you can score it with a air powered cutting wheel ( which I have), and then tap a chisel into it, which breaks it in half. Thusly removing it. Anyone ever do anything like this without damaging the crank end? IF so how deep to score, and how hard to chisel? Guest Anonymous
I don't know about the procedure you described, sounds scary. What I have done when the sproket is being stubborn is drill two holes 180 degrees apart and tap them with a 6mmx1.00 tap and use a puller. Guest Anonymous
Sounds like an idea. I guess you drill for about 3-4 threads worth. Steve
Guest Anonymous
I usually go 6-8 threads, less chance of the bolts pulling out.
