Guest Anonymous
I've seen these cheap ($50) Oxy/Propane torches at the hardware store, and I wonder if anyone has used them to cut and weld sheetmetal. Specifically, are they enough to cut out and weld in floor pans in my 280z?
Guest tom sixbey
well, i dont have a concrete answer for you, but i can tell you that a friend of mine has cut throught 1/4" thick metal with one of them before - however very slowly. You tend to burn off more metal than you want to with one of them if your not practiced with one, and they create a lot of heat which could warp some of the surrounding metal. If i were you, i'd cut the floors out with some kind of grinder. - but make sure your chassis is supported underneath before you make any cuts..
