Well guys I have to say that the quality of the finished product was rough but real strong. The car raised up when the bumpers were removed. We cut out partof the inner wheel well. And then rolled the quarter panels under to reconnect them to the floor in back. This boxed in the area which otherwise would have been open to to all wheather and road noise, and most important smoke from all those burn outs. The rear clip is now installed but Ihave not had time to do the finish work like feathering out the edges of fiberglass to the metal. The front clip has been altered as such that the center cowl section has been cut out and the original z cowl section has been retained. The legal limit for headlights in the state of Calif. is 24-54" so That wasn't a problem either. I pulled a pair of pop up head lights off of a 1987 pontiac fiero. These head lights are going to be installed into the front edge of the hood. When you remove head lights and the hood henges ect. you have lots of room to mount the head lights. The head lights mount on kind of a flat area on each side that is plenty strong to hold them. The lights pop up opening the section on the hood. I always thought the whole thing poped up but it's a two part set for each head light assembly. The actual head light raises up opening the the head light covers on the hood. The front clip still isn't scribed around the doors and windshield yet but I will Have that finished in the next couple of weeks. Then comes all of the finish work feathering all edges out and getting it ready for primer paint. I do have some pictures of what Is completed so far. They turned out kind of dark but you can still see enough to get and idea. I will post them soon. The car doesn't even look the same at all anymore. My little 225-60-14 tires on 6&7" rims look so smallI can't wait to get the big one's I have planned for the car. I now have tons of room for wide wheels. If I want I can put a bumper in the rear on the inside of the rear clip attached to the frame rails that the original bumper was atached to. But if I did this I would use some type of metal strong but not heavy. and I can do the same in front. The hood will now be opening from the front rather than the back. I'm using hood pins to hold it shut and the back half is on kind of a hook setup sothe entire hood can be remooved instantly. I would not have to use the pop up head lights but I wanted the car to look some what legal ha ha ha. The front and back clips only weigh 57 lbs. total weight. I'm Happy my son inlaw is tallented to do the work and guide me the right way. When I finish all the work I will have learned quite a lot.If it sounds like I'm bragging It's because I am. I bought the car in 1989 to put a chevy engine in it and it's finnaly in there and a whole bunch of other things to go along with it. Iam sure all you other guys and gal's can understand what I'm feeling right now. I will have more info and pictures soon. talk about getting carried away I guess I did oh well.
