Breathing life into a 39 year old soul

Recommended Posts

So I thought I'd catalog everything as I go along so I will post here also from session to session to show whats gone on during this transformation. A brief history on the car and myself. I'm new to hybrid Z but have been an avid lurker for a few years now just never needed to post anything really as my project hadn't started. I've had this 240z now for about 2-3 yrs. also so during that whole time gap of me doing absolutely nothing with it I've been exploring possible routes on what to do with it. My pops being a former Z owner wanted to keep the L24 and rebuild it and the trans. and call it good but I however wanted to go with the latter L28 for a long while and we would bicker about this for weeks on end. I finally gave in and said okay lets do it your way a few weeks ago and he said "awesome!" (had to throw the quote in there his enthusiasm was off the rector. A few days ago he said lets just buy a rebuilt engine.... *I face palm* So now I was back to the drawing board, I look for engines and stumble across people arguing about sr's and rb's(unsure if it was here for classic z)being dropped in the s30 chassis. This intrigued me and with my crackhead like endurance with coffee/green tea and little sleep I decided we could go this route and I could get a turbo out of the deal.(My current daily is this quick n/a e36 and my previous daily was an rx7 so yeah I miss the turbo...)

Well thats enough ranting for now, I'll post pics tomorrow of what the car looked like when I first purchased it.

P.S. Hi, how are you? My names Franck.

These pics were taken about 1 week after I brought the car home. As you can see the car came with mismatched wheels with no rubber. The brakes were entire seized on the rear drivers side causing the drum to be a pain in the ass to remove. There is no caliper on the drivers front wheel, everything on the passenger side was just dandy(not that I care I was going to upgrade the brakes anyhow).

I purchased some slotted mags off craigslist just for rollers so I could get this beauty out my yard and into my garage to begin this resuscitation I'll post those in a few hours after I clean the area around the car in my drive way and begin to move it in.
