Suicied Doors

Aspen, I would check with www.autoloc.com for suicide hinge systems. They produce a lot of electronic components for street rods like solenoids for shaved door handles, etc. Keep in mind they are not cheap--starting at $299!

Note: the suicide hinge systems are NOT listed on their site, but they do carry them and advertise them in magazines like Rod and Custom. HTH

zlover, suicide doors hinge at the back instead of the front. Basically reversed the latch and hinges respectively... although, much more involved than that. As for why they're called "suicide", lots of early coupes (1930's) were equiped this way (i guess it's easier to get in and out) but, as u can imagine if the door came open while driving the wind would have it's way with the door and being there were no seatbelts if one were to fall out and instead of falling away from the car the door comes along and munches you. Fun huh?

I thought they were called suicide doors because if you opened them at speed they would be blasted open(as you said) facilitating a jump to your death rather than the danger of falling out
