Guest Anonymous
Last February I did one preliminary photo shoot of an unusual customized 240Z that a few of you asked me to look for. As we approach winter I thought it would be nice to showcase these photos and spec sheet of this car which I call the "Goddess Z" . As a forerunner of the car being showcased (and there is a lot of unique body features to showcase, I assure you) I thought it would be fun to put up a preview to see how many of you recognize the car and owner from a mere rear side view. Anybody know why it is called the "Goddess" Z? If you are game you can see one shot parked at the edge of ZPARTS.COM's well known "lake". It's displayed in a java applet effect so you will need a version 4 or later browser to see it correctly. Guest Frank Rich
Eric, I spoke to the owner of "Goddess Z" at the 2000 Z-car Convention in Las Vegas, and although I have since unfortunately forgotten his name, I will NEVER forget the incredible airbrushed image of a scantily clad, extemely voluptuous "Fire Goddess" that is rendered on the entire underside of this car's hood! Talk about stopping traffic when you check your oil! This car looks slick enoough on the outside, with MSA body pieces, sidepipes and a striking black/white contrasty paint job - but man, when the hood goes up and you see "The Goddess" in all her flaming-haired glory! Definitely makes my list of Top Ten paint jobs! "Lead me not into Temptation, I'm getting there just fine on my own!" Frank
DavyZ
The bodywork on the car is very interesting too--no drip rails, no maintenance doors, all black with side pipes--definitely very unique Davy
Guest Anonymous
Frank, Jim Darnell is the name of the owner, you'd be amazed to hear how much the guy spent on that Goddess mural, but it would not be kosher for me to leak the figure. The first shoot I did with Jim's generous cooperation, resulted a very decent set of photos, including a one of the mural that I think will be the best you have seen anywhere. That said, however, I was still not satisfied with my interpretation of the cars strong points. It's a difficult car to define visually in one or 2 shots. The car being painted black makes it even more difficult . Davy, Yup, you probably have seen the car around at the local shows. Apart from the integrated body kit, black side pipes, white strips, the special weld ups of numerous body seams, elimination of rain gutter and the frenching of the door handles makes this quite an unusual custom body. What is most unusual to my mind, is that the owner actually had several unrelated shops, artists and body shop wizards all do their "thing" to separate parts of the car. The guy that did only the rain gutter removal blend-in, seam weld up and frenched handles interests me the most. To see a bit more unique handy work by this body wizard, take a look at some shots I took of his own current project at ZPARTS.COM website More feed back welcome Eric of ZPARTS.COM
