Guest slouch
I'm thinking about doing a v8 buildup for a swap into either a Z or a jag and I was curious what books people recommend as I'm new to engine building.
Guest Anonymous
First and for most you must, I repeat must get the JTR manual on Z conversions from www.jagsthatRun.com They also carry manuals for Jag conversions hence the name. Then check out Jegs online or summit racing also on line they both have an assortment of good reading material depending on exactly what you want to do. They have great books on build ups from mild to wild, Ford and Chevy. Since your new to engine building it may be best to go with complete donnor swap, a running engine and tranny in one unit out of a donnor car. It is also recommended that you try to stay with carberated engines unless you are good with EFI's. As far as Z swaps go just rummage through the past threads in the seach engine and you will find days of great reading on just about every engine swap into a Z that you can imagine. Welcome and good luck.
Guest slouch
Thanks for the advice. I'm mostly looking to get a car that has already had the swap done and rebuild the engine from there. As to EFI I'd love to do it and I'm familiar with playing with it from working on wy 300zxt but theres no way I have the cash to do it correctly. Thanks for mentioning Jegs they're book selection looks good and it's waht I need because I'm shamefully ignorant when it comes to classic detroit power.
