randy 77zt
i just ordered ALL new weather stripping for my 77z at nissan dealer.most of it shows in stock at various parts depots all over usa.the parts guy that i work is doing a dealer search on the rest.my car needs a paint job.it has been a central ca car all its life.the weather stripping is a cracked and shrunken from 100+ degree summers.if you get it for all the windows and the window felt it comes in about 20 pieces.i figured i had better buy it now and get the last stuff in stock. Guest jdllaugh
You know there are a few companies that sell weather stripping kits for the Z cars? They run around $250. If you're buying individual pieces, it could get expensive. Here's a web page with a weather stripping kit and other resto parts for Zs. DavyZ
You know there has to be SOME company like Trimlock, Steel Rubber Products, Soffseal or the like that sells some kind of weather-stripping that can be used in place of the genuine Nissan product. My biggest concern is not necessarily the quality, as each of these companies carries many varienties of different kinds of weather-strip, but the proper fit. However, logic dictates that it should not be that difficult to find. Anyway, just thinking out loud. David

Is there any reason you can't just go with a custom House of Kolor paint? They should be able to match it close enough that nobody would know the difference. Color shifting paint is pretty common these days. As a side note, last time I was in English Color Supply, I saw a gentleman buying some purple/green color shift paint for his 1976 Corvette. I thought it was an...interesting choice with which to paint the model of Corvette occasionally referred to as "the flying dildo". Too much is never enough, I guess. Dan Juday
On those Impulse door seals, what years? The older 1st gen (Chevette based)or the later one that is also the Geo Storm?
spotfitz
Hyundai Excel are the same profile/shape as the impulse. I think I recall both being a late '80's model. The Excel had to be trimmed aswell. Hope it helps. Should be afew left out there in the yards.
randy 77zt
i picked it all up-it was about 20 parts.i even got those chrome trim/rubber parts on top of door edge.having new parts will speed up prep time because old parts will be cut out and thrown away.i guess i am picky but i always look for tape marks on a repaint job.
