PITA_Z
I'm having trouble understanding how exactly I should have have my settings in TunerStudio for using the 81zxt CAS. I have done as Tony D has done with his with CAS plate and rotated it 72*, but past that, I don't really know what to be doing. Here are my current Ignition settings (MSII, latest 3.1.0 extra code) I thought I should be using toothed wheel, but then the Trigger Wizard under tools & Trigger Offset are disabled.. I've read & read a lot, but still taking a while for all this to sink in. Edited April 11, 2011 by PITA_Z
PITA_Z
I'm getting no response at all from the composite/teeth loggers in TunerStudio while cranking. I tested the wires as they should be according to moby's info for an 83zxt CAS. I hope one of you can tell me what settings to be using on the Ignition Options page, as it's probably wrong. Dizzy side ------------ Harness Side Red (12v) B/W White (MS trigger) G/B Green (not used) G/Y Black (gnd) Black I got (checking just on MS side connector): Battery voltage on Red-B/W 4.2V on White-G/B (with 1k pullup) & connection to ground on Black-Black Can someone tell me where to be looking next to get the CAS reading properly? Meanwhile I'll continue reading through the manuals. Thanks. Edit: I was fiddling around with the connector between the CAS & MS wires and the fuel pump was coming on & off. FP wasn't coming on normally when I had it connected & turned the key to power up MS, so I guess I just have a bad connection there. Matt Cramer
You need to use Basic Trigger, and the Trigger Angle / Offset needs to be adjusted so the spark timing you see with a timing light matches what you see in the tuning software. (The correct number will depend on how the distributor has been adjusted.) Toothed Wheel is only used when you have a missing tooth type wheel, or two separate trigger wheels working together. Basic Trigger is what you use for six equally spaced pulses.
PITA_Z
Thanks Matt. Now I need to go figure out if I have the CAS wired correctly.
