  1. I tried hot wiring the coil last night and it did nothing. I tried a new coil today it also did nothing. It has brand new bosch supers in it now but im gonna get some NGK plugs for and retry hot wiring the coil.
  2. I have 2 volts at my coil. And 2 volts coming out of the dizzy. The car will turn over and over and over and then will hit once then over and over and over. I converted it to HEI module and it didnt change anything.

My 280z will only run if hold it to the floor and it will only be at like 1200 rpms and if you let off and it dies it will not crank back up and after trying and trying it backfires REALLY LOUD and blows a puff of smoke and still wont crank. My gas tank has just been re-done and it ran fine for awhile (good enough for yard driving) but then i went out to crank it and it did that so i waited a few days and it did the same thing. PLEASE HELP.
  4. All 6 plugs were flooded and after i cleaned and re-gapped them it cranked right up and runs great.

  6. Like the title says my 1977 280z will crank once and with the throttle held to the floor will run at like 1200 rpms then it will die out and wont crank back up. I just had the gas tank redone. I unplugged the MAS and it does the same as it does plugged up. It has a good Fuel pressure regulator also. The car ran perfect 2 weeks ago with a milk jug as a substitute for a gas tank. it did sit without the gas tank for about 3 weeks. Please help...

  9. I am planning on swapping my 77 280z from an auto to a manual, and was wondering if i would need a new flywheel or if they auto and manuals were interchangable.

  11. Nope, i bought the car as a shell. It does not have a motor or interior. however it did come with a 280zx 5 speed.
  12. Are you saying swap the whole harness over? If so how do i go about doing that?
  13. As the title states i need help with the wiring. I have done my research and most people say everything is the same but looking at it there are more wires on the 260z than on the 240z and some of the wires on the L24 have different prongs than the plugs on the 260z chassis.So my question is what all do i have to change over both of the cars. I have three of these cars a 240 a 260 and a 280 the 240 has a good motor so im not going to buy a motor when i already have one i am aware that i am downgrading but im working with what i have.
  14. Thanks for the help and feedback i really appreciate it. I am sanding the rust down before priming it the PO already cut out all the bad rust spots in the usual places like floor pans. I have a huge list of stuff i am going to do to it. I will post some pics in a few seconds. Thanks, Luke
  15. Quick Update I am in the process of priming the car since it is 4 different colors (Red,Green,White,Dark Green). I do not know what color i will be painting it yet since iam not good at picking out a color. Now as the of the 240z engine donor it is still sitting where i bought it at. I have to pay a rollback to go pick it up because it doesn't move. After i pull the motor out i will be taking it apart and putting all new gaskets on it and a new clutch,pressure plate, and throwout bearing, and get the flywheel resurfaced, rebuild the carbs and maybe throw a header on it. The car doesn't have any type of exhaust on it so i will be doing custom strait pipe exhaust (yes i know it will be loud as anything) and some kind of muffler. I do not know what kind of muffler yet but i am looking for a deep exhaust sound. I have a 1976 vw bug that needs injectors after i put injectors on it i will be selling it to fix up this car and my 280z and put brakes on my 1951 6400 chevy,because it has no brakes at all. Also i have a question. How could i get 250whp out of the stock engine? Thanks for looking and all ideas and feedback is welcome good or bad.

  17. I bought this car today and it came with a 240z. The 240z has a good running motor and good 4 speed, I bought both of them for 400 dollars.
  18. How hard would it be to take a 240z transmission and all the manual stuff and put into a 1977 280z. I know that there are threads on this website that talk about manual conversions but i have searched and cannot find a helpful one.
  19. I have not done that much with the car but diagnose that it has low fuel pressure and mess with the electronics and put a fuel rail on it. I will be dropping the tank pretty soon to get it boiled and get a new fuel filter and clean out the fuel pump. My plans for the car include Get the motor running PERFECT convert it to a manual get the ac working put new pigtails on the injectors sand it down do the body work and paint it (havent decided on a color yet thinking somewhere alog the lines of grey or gunmetal) put some wheels on it or just low profile tires and.....some of you might not like this but......ill be putting DC2 function and form coilovers Feedback & Suggestions or welcome good or bad i will entertain them all thanks for looking and ill keep u posted

  21. I have the manual downloaded. So far the only thing it has told me is the TPS might be bad. I have cleaned out the fuel filter it stills runs like crap. I have adjusted the valves. I have not yet checked fuel pressure.
  22. is the pcv hose the one on the bottom of the intake manifold?
