  1. let me start off by saying i did do a good bit of searching, granted, it was 3 am, and i was tired.. anyhow, after doing some reading, it seems all of the stock intke manifolds have fairly restrictive runners, and such, and a custom log/sheetmetal intake is pretty costly. has anyone taken a clifford or azc intake and converted it to efi? weld on injector bungs, and use a 4150 style throttle body and a bonnet, or a sheetmetal throttle body elbow? i don't have one in front of me, so i don't know if the runners on those are worth anything. unattractive as it would be looks wise, would that perform better by a good bit, than a stock nissan casting? would it support a 450-500 hp application? (yes, i know there are many other factors in making an l series produce those kind of numbers, but strictly speaking on intakes)
  2. i just emailed you. i may have a car for you. if you don't get the email, call me 601-951-4493. i have a pretty nice 1971 240z, in MS
  3. so, these are the wheels on my 240z.. i don't much care for them, but i can't find any thing out about them, model, or anything. trying to find out if they are worth anything.. any ideas? they are 14x6 (i believe)
  4. yeah, i won't be doing buisness with them.. the want 1k for a set of cast stroker pistons.. every thing on that websight priced, like it's diamond encrusted. i'm pretty sure i could get JE to make a set of forged slugs for less than that.
  5. as far as drivetrain, i don't care about replacing 50 dollar junk yard transes, and i'm sure i will eventually do the ka trans. and i've seen pics of big block z car's toting the tires on an r200 with the right axles.. carless, i'm not opposed to good rods, but i've heard from a couple of guys, given the right rod bolts, and provided they are race prepped, L series rods will hold up to a pretty big beating (100 hp per hole, so i'm told) so if i don't have to shell out the extra 900 dollars for rods, i'd rather not
  6. this has nothing to do with what i'm looking to spend.. let's stay on topic. here, let me make it simple.. will a balanced 3.1, with forged pistons, and shot peened/race prepped 2.4 9mm bolt rods. arp head studs and a good mls head gasket handle a 200 hit, assuming a/f ratio is right? again, i searched, most of my results were newbs asking if their wore out 280zx would grenade on a 100 shot.
  7. so, i'm looking at another z, and i'm thinking about building a 3.1 with a good set of forged flat tops. and a decent set of rods. (vague i know) some where in the ball park of 11:1 cr, as far as fuel, it would be tripple 45 dcoe's.. so what i'm wondering, assuming the bottom end is strong enough, and it has a good MLS head gasket, and good bolts that won't allow the head to lift, would a 200 wet shot out of a direct port kit be un reasonable? i have a fair amont of experiance with nitrous, but it's mainly been with fox body mustangs and my bbc camaro.. i have searched on this site, and most of the nitrous questions are from people asking if a 75-100 shot will grenade their engines. basicly what i want out of the car is somewhere near 275-300 crank hp, n/a. and shoot 200 on top of that. and most of the 500 hp L series i have seen have been turbo'd and i'm really not wanting to go that route. i like the scream of a n/a z car with triple side draft's and it's a much cleaner look to me. has this been done? please save the "drive train will not take it, trans won't take it yadda yadda yadda" responces. i'm more interested in hearing about the capeabilty's of a forged piston stroker.
  8. i am looking at a getting a '78 280 coupe, and i want to throw together a car to smack down a kid in a cobalt ss (he got his ass smoked by my spec v with a 75 shot) any way, i am not interested hurting my sentra, any way, the 280 can be had for $200 and i am wanting to do the f54 flat top bottom end/maxima n-47 head, 270/480 cam, header, 2.5 pipe, and a 150 wet shot. also..micky thompson et drag tires.. so if i leave at redline, spray the rest of the way, what kind of 1/4 mile times would be reasonable to expect? i don't care if the motor holds together. if i get 2 or 3 passes, i am happpy.. i can pull a z engine in less than an hour.. the details are sketchy at this point, i may not be able to put my hands on the flat top bottom end, but the rest is there. i have had tons plenty of zcars, and i have put together 4 turbo swapped s30's.. last nitrous zcar was a '76 280, stock with a 100 shot and free flowing exhaust.. i was not too impressed, but i was a little dumber at the time, and i did not realise there was a siphon in the tank, so i just had it laying down flat...
  9. umm well it is not the cleanest install, but the main reason is, i like zcars.. i really want a fast s30, and as i said, and l28 in a s13 is just not right.. a car needs a motor that is the same age, or newer.. old motor goes in old car.. new motor goes in old car old motor does not go in a new car... it would be like popping the hood on a c5 vette and seeing a conventional sbc with a carb....
  10. i don't supose you have a decent s30 body you would trade for a s13 hatch body, with a q45 lsd r200, and a brand new gp sports 180sx body/lip kit with front and rear facias, carbon over fenders, and side skirts? (this is not a cheap gaudy body kit..... it looks like stock 180sx parts with a subtle lip kit)
  11. i am about to aquire a '90 240sx that has a l28 turbo.. and iam thinking about ripping the whole set up out and throwing it in an s30 probably a 280 where (imo) it belongs.. the longblock is stock, with an n42 intake a t3/t4 of some sort (not ebay crap) megasquirt II with timing control.. and the ka trans conversion...any way , the thought of a 300+ hp s13 is nice, as well as a more modern car.. BUT it just does not hold the same appeal as an s30, and putting an l series in a s13 to me, is like putting in a carb'd conventional sbc in place of an ls1 in a 98+ fbody.. any way, i can't decide.. iam very wishy washy about it.. is there a signifagant weight difference between a hatch s13 and a late s30? this is the car.. some may know it.. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115464
  12. I have an opertunity to get the transversely mounted sr20det set up, and i was wondering, is it possible to use the engine with a rwd trans? is it even possible to use it in a rwd application such as a zcar or 240sx?
  13. i was wondering, at what hp level do you hit a wall with the factory l28 intakes? from what i understand they are pretty restrictive.. note: i did search before i posted..
  14. sorry if this is a re-post.. but i am doing an lt1 swap, and i was wondering, what is the most power a r200 would take? iam more than likely going to use a 3.90 280zx diffy, with welded spider gears (i know that is hee-haw) but what is the fastest you have heard of an s30 going (1/4 mile) with semi stock suspension and r200? how much power will they support? iam really not wanting to do an r230 coversion.. i don't care if i put a new diffy in every week.. as long as it will be good for a few passes.. iam wanting to build my engine.. heads cam, headers.. 150 shot.. (around 500hp) stall converter, built th 350 trans, and the biggest slick possible.. (without modifacation) i know my goals sound kinda vauge.. but any help would be great..
  15. iam wanting to put an lt1 into my '73... and i have one lined up, it is from a '95 t/a and it had a 6 speed.. but iam not getting the trans with it.. so iam probably going to use a turbo 350 or 700r4.. is that going to affect any thing? i have the engine harness and computer.. what will i need to do besides delete VATS to make it run?
