  1. Back on all fours again! Thanks for all the good suggestions. I was able to get the springs to settle without too much fuss. Seattlejester, great tip and I will deffinately look into doing that to prevent any future headaches.

Now on to the hundred other projects to get it back on the road looking and acting the way it is meant to. Not complaining...feels good to get this project rolling again. literally.

  2. Hello all,

Years ago I purchased a Tokico strut/spring set. I do not remember if the shocks were the HP or Illumina. They're blue if that helps. Springs are marked 5022-F and 5022-R. Life got in the way before being able to install the kit but it's time has finally come.

The car is currently up on stands and I installed the front this morning. At full droop with wheels mounted the spring is about 3/4 to 1 inch from the top perch. Is this what anyone would call normal? I have not installed the rear in the car yet but did not have to compress any of the springs to assemble the strut. This didn't surprise be considering the length of the new vs stock springs.

Do I search? constantly....I've gotten lost in "the strut thread" on several ocasions. I have always been able to find the answers to my questions in the forum but have not been able to find this one so far.

    Thanks for the help!

  3. John is right. For some reason or another there is way too much fuel in the bowl. This can be caused by a stuck needle and seat, improper float level, or even too much fuel pressure. Fuel can't get to the boosters without going into the bowl first.

How big is your carb and what is the rest of the combo? I know the guys at BG are not the most helpful but I have been able to get a few good answers from them over the years. I'm sure they think the carb might be wrong for the application (which may be right) and don't want to waste time helping you make it work.

    Hope this helped a bit.

  4. I hauled my Trans Am to the track to show off for a possible buyer and look what pulled in!

I was too busy with my car to get a peek under the hood. I think it's a BBC and has EFI. He pulled a small trailer to the track, unhitched and clicked off a 9.89 and a 9.9_. The track is in Wichita, KS so I assume the owner lives near by.

  5. I purchased a set of rocker arms for sbc from CAT. First I must say that the parts did end up working but I was not at all pleased with my transaction. I needed a set of narrow body roller rockers for my build and found their parts through an internet search. The price was right and they looked like good pieces so I went ahead and ordered a set. When the time came to install the rockers the poly locks were too large in dia. to fit tn the rocker slot. After many phone calls and 2 new sets of locks I shipped the arms back for them to come up with a solution. They came back with some crappy die grinder work and full on shavings. Spent 8 hours taking them apart to clean up their "repair" work. They didn't even disassemble the rockers while grinding and nicked the shaft on several arms.

Sorry about my little rant but I think I have finally learned the you get what you pay for lesson. I will not skimp on performance parts again. They did seem eager to help with the problem and were fairly easy to deal with but I doubt I will do business with them again.

  6. I lost my old trusty pick up truck to an overgrown elm tree Tuesday. Still trying to dig out so I can hitch up the trailer and move my drag car out of harms way. It lost it's place in the garage to the Datsun. lol Could have been much worse. Thankfully no damage to the house or garage but it looks like we are in for a few inches of snow Thursday night. Have to love Kansas weather! Jason

  7. I am having a problem with my 88 Trans AM GTA. Most of the time it runs fine, but the past few weeks it has been giving me problems. About a month ago I was crusing around town and the car died with no warning. It would not restart so I pushed it into a nearby parking lot to let the car (and myself) cool down a bit. After a while it fired right up and I took it home. I replaced the ign control module thinking it could be getting weak and the car seemed fine until a week ago. On the way to work (35 miles) It started to miss and rapidly degraded until it finaly quit. Same story, cool down and restart. Took it to my mechanic, no problems found. brought it home and the next morning it wouldn't start. The next day I picked up a noid light to make sure injectors were firing and of course it decided to fire right up! I did a quick visual inspection and found a connector on the firewall that was partially melted. Could anyone tell me what this connector is? Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.

Here's a pic of the connector. Wire colors on the left side are black green and light blue. On the right side it appears that only the black and blue are there, don't know if the green melted off but I don't see it lying any where near.

    Thanks for the help

  8. Yes that shifter does offset the handle to the right. The threads on the handle are a large dia. M16x1.5 I think so a standard shift knob won't fit. just one of those little things that pisses you off when you think you have every part that you will ever need. Very stout shifter, I got mine on ebay for about $165 new. Can't remember the vendor right now. I don't have my drivetrain in just yet so I can't comment on your alignment.

  9. Thanks for the help guys. I don't know if the car will be worth a darn but I couldn't pass on it for the price. If I can't get the trans squared away I'll just part it out for more Z money!

  10. Hi folks. I just picked up a 97 Eclipse GST to use as a work car. As far as I can tell it needs a clutch slave cylinder, maybe master cylinder. It dosen't really matter, I only paid $200. Yep thats right and the interior is in great shape. Engine runs smooth, no smoke.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a good forum to gain useful info about this car. Thanks for the help.
