  1. Alright, it's time for my baby to shine!!! Now I have a few quick questions on building it. Here's the key. Now I understand that there should be say a 1/8" gap between the piece thats being put in and the board. What I don't understand is where the .6" bend is. Is that how much I bend next to the piece? Or at the end of the wire? Like in this picture... Say I bent the .6" off the end. This doesn't look right to me... So I'm guessing I bend the .6" from right next to the piece, solder it in on the bottom, and cut off the excess? Just trying to make sure all this before I start going at it. Thanks for the help guys!!!
  2. Got the intake manifold off tonight, then I took off the dizzy. People said to lock up the mechanical advance. Sooo JB Weld to the rescue! Now, what exactly do I weld up? Also I think some bearings popped out, and a part that holds one of them in broke also.... Hope this is not too much of a problem... Thanks for the help! Sorry for the blurry pics, mom's cam isn't all that great...
  3. Heh... body work.... heh... Nope, I'll go with a sleeper/beater look for now. I'll start the body work next up, after I get all of this taken care of!Do I know you? LOL sorry I'm really blanking...
  4. Well since I finally got time today to start working on it, I though WTH, let's do it. Drained the oil first. Got the rubber connector from the AFM to the TB off. [accidently ripped it, just means I'm meant for turbo!!!] Then I though let's check to see how it fits.. Grabbed the charge pipe, and the coil was touching it!! I think to myself, well this ain't ganna work... So can anyone tell me a better place to relocate it? Where to move it or whatnot? I also noticed that it was hitting some things right next to where the suspension assembly mounts up.... Maybe I just don't have it turned enough or what not. Also, can someone please tell me how they took care of the AFM? The normal spot it sits on will not allow the rubber hose to connect to the turbo because of hitting the J pipe. Please help! I don't want her out of the count for toooo long! If it will you help answer my questions, I'm doing a basic swap over. Using an FMU, exhaust manifold, turbo, and the intake plumbing is all.
  5. Painless makes a wiring harness for us? Or is this making it yourself? Either way I should probably get one later on.
  6. Damn good job on the paint job!!! So there is hope for me yet!!! Well maybe not, I'll be stuck outside if I ever want to paint it... =/
  7. I'd be interested in getting a Gnose. But I'll be honest as I'm short on money right now... Had an accident about 2 weeks ago... Luckly the car is fixable. But I was wondering how much it would cost about for the gnose and all. Sounds like a fun project!
  8. Can I just come and look and watch you work on the car? It'd be worth the gas!!! Oh and I say the RB and try to get the AWD to fit also. That would be ownage.
  9. Currently I have a '76 280. I recently bought a F54 block from Thumper on here. It's only the block as I am going to be building it up. Would it be just as well for me to just upgrade the pistons and rods and leave the stroke as is? I plan on something similar to what you suggested pyro. I was going to build up the internals and then PnP the head that I put on it. After that have everything stock. When I get up to that, I was going to upgrade the intake mani, and then the ecu and get all the electrical set up. Then get a nice big IC and turn up the boost. For last I was going to save the turbo to upgrade. I was just wondering if the stroked crank would be worth it? And if I would need to up the revs to have a better performing engine.
  10. Thanks for the reply!!! I'll have to thank you, as you're the first person that didn't act as if I was a complete idiot. I'd like this car to be streetable yes, but I'll be leaning more towards going straight down the track. I'm not planning on making a complete stroker actually, just throwing in the LD crank for good measure. I'll be putting a turbo on the block and if I get a larger turbo down the line that takes longer to spool up, I'd prefer not to have to change the internals once again. I'd be getting forged pistons from somewhere and I was wondering if you had an insight on where to get some forged rods maybe? I'm sure theres someone that makes these, but I have yet to find one in my searching. I know head work is a must to make the most out of the turbo, but on the combustion chamber. You can/should only go so far on your CR correct? I would have to stay somewhere around 9:1 yes? I know this block is going to take alot of planning, and I have patience on things that I really want to do right the first time, and this is one of those things! Thanks for the help and any other replys would be great also! Thank you again for helping an newb out!
  11. Would having something done to the crank help increase the revs? Also haveing all the internals balanced and what not? I'm not asking about a stock setup. I'm asking if I took the LD crank and put it in my new block, what could/would need to be done so I would be able to rev it higher than the normal high. I know changing the cam out just moves the power band correct? I'm just trying to plan things out for the future. I want to go make sure I don't take any short cuts on this build. Went to a meet last night and a bunch of people loved the car, they asked what I had in it and I said stock and they sighed. "No V-8???" Me- "|-|3LL no!" But back to my question, what all could/should be done to achieve this goal?
  12. The tarp somehow slipped off and back up to the front -.- And it was far enough, but each time I took off it would rock back. >.< Can't wait till Tuesday when me and my friend try to take her out, haha. That will be a sight. I'll take her apart first thing!!! And clean her up.
  13. Picked up a new block today. Got a F54 from Ted on here, I don't know his login sadly. Thanks for the great deal Ted!!! Now I really have something to have fun with!!! Sadly she didn't come without a fight though. She wobbled back and forth and started attacking my tint!!! Scratched off a pretty big chunk too... But all in all it was worth it! Thanks again for the tie down too Ted. Don't want that flying around and attacking my plug wires again. -.- Big plans =D Now to find somewhere to hone it over here... and someone to powdercoat the block.. I'm going to be different and go for WHITE. I know it'll get dirty, but hey, I've yet to see one white. If you've got a picture of one white, Let me know.
  14. I'm in the same situation too my friend. I took her into the dealership today for a diagnostic. $83 but hey they'll tell me what's beating her. I'm actually planning on doing a L29ET swap. I figure that crank change should liven things up a bit more. I don't post here much, but it looks like it wouldn't be a bad idea to start. Good luck and keep updates on the car!
