i was wondering if you would be able to give me the dimensions of the spark plug cover, since my motor hasnt been delivered yet. ive been wanting my sister whos in art school to design a cover for mine and she needs the dimensions in order to do it. if you can that would be great Thanks.

How is that spark plug cover artwork holding up to the heat?
-
Hmm yeah I don't know if it's a corporation or just private businesses.
-
yeah it'll be running with no problems and they wont cut any corners. the palce is called forged performance in oregon

they gave me a rough estimate on a few things and on some of the things they dont have prices on them yet. they were saying about 3k for the mounts radiator drive line rear end fmic and wiring. the series 2 long block the one with the machine work done to it 1400, then for the second motor set ( to get the tranny and ecu and harness and other missing sensors and such ) 1500-1700. so for the motor another 3k. but i'll be able to sell the other long block they say pretty easily for like 750. and on the sheet they gave me the estimated 20hrs of labor and that would be like 1500. and for the rest they say misc stuff, then custom downpipe and kakimoto exhaust. I'm not sure about a dif intake mani but thats roughly what we talked about when i was there last. and i did put down 1500 for the motor, I really fell in love of the idea of having pretty much a new motor.
-
They said roughly 10 grand. Includes motor, tranny wiring, install, exhaust, radiator, fmic, r200 rear end. Pretty much a complete install.
-
yeah i figured the little things were going to be the biggest pain in the a**. but do you think 10 grand is a fair price to have a shop do the swap? Or if anyone in portland or vancouver has done this swap before and knows of ways of saving some time, money, and hassle, or knows of a good place where they can do it for less.
-
sorry that all the pics are from my i phone but i think they show that i got most of the rust out and am on track to getting it back to its former glory. and for the section where the body meets the frame i have cut all that away and have a new piece ready to go in and my dad made a piece to weld into the frame to strengthen and fix that as well

today i bought a series 2 rb25det swap the motor was sent out to a machine shop and got freshened up new valve guides all new bearings and stuff. Now that i jumped in with both feet,I hope it motivates me to finishing the body work on it lol. Im having a local shop put it all together for me and all said and done they said to buget 10k. and can anyone tell me if this is fair, and if its worth it in the end. I plan on spending the summer getting all the parts and piecing the swap together. and that should give enough time to get the z put back together. if anyone can chime in and give me some incite as what the hardest parts of this swap is i would be most grateful. i will post some pics of the the car later tonight and some of the motor as soon as the shop gets it back.

Yeah i went to another store today and they had it. looks good. very nice article. almost wish they made it a little more clear at how hard and how much effort goes into this swap, to make everyone appreciate this amazing car.
-
i just went to the store and the modified mag that they had displayed wasnt the one you talked about, i looked through it to see if they changed the cover, but you werent in there either
-
Another option i know mckinney motorsports offers a custom radiator with optional fan set up specifically for the rb into the s30 chassi

Your car is looking soooo good, I hope mine turns out half as nice. I started doing the body work on mine last weekend I'm going to start a build thread soon just been lazy right now
-
You get the photo shoot done yet?
-
I've been busy starting the body work on the z, ordering the rb25 swap got pushed back till end of march/ first week of April. Been going out way too much lately lol. I'll start a build thread and post up the pics of what I've done so far.

It's the longnose r200 right? How much do you want for it, do you have any pictures?
-
Im in the process of restoring a 72 240z that i am also going to be swapping in a rb25det, so in order to make it relaiable i need to find the differential. any help with this would be much appreciated

Started working on the car today taking the bumpers off and the fender that has a rust hole found that the front frame rail has been severe corrosion so I'm going to have to replace that as well, can't wait to find the other little curve balls she is going to throw at me. Ordering the rb next month

How did the photo shoot go, car is looking amazing! How is that wire cover holding up too the heat and stuff?
-
mainly just have fun with it, maybe drag a few times, and in portland we have a very good road track i was planning on going to every once in awhile. i figure on spending around ten grand on this project and overtime it will probably go over that amount and im ok with that as well
-
Have you worked with the r200 from the q45?
-
Which is better the 300zx rearend or the r200
-
Like 450-500 I send them the engine harness and the stock 240 harness and they make it so all you have to do I plug in 4 wires I believe they said an it'll be a turn key motor
-
The great thing about this project is I worked at a body shop as an aprentice for awhile and my dads been a bodyman and fabricator for pretty much ever. So all I really got to worry about is the motor and suspension/brakes and finding the parts
-
How hard is it to do the r200 and cv axle swap? If that stuff is relatively easy I might just do the motor first cause I'm not good with wiring so I'm going to have mckinney motorsports do the harness conversion and stuff.
