  1. I have been wondering I drive a 1977 280z and my car was on the highway one night after work and I started having popping sounds coming from my afm since then I have replaced my afm. The question I am having however is that when I installed the new to me used afm on my car I started having a really bad rich mixture causing my car to be flooded with gasoline and backfire of course out of my exhuast has anyone had this sort of problem before? I have replaced the all sensors except thermotime and engine temp sensor. All new pigtails and the tank has been cleaned all new spark plugs the timing is perfect. These problems just started apearing after the old afm failed and I installed the used one. Before the afm failed the car never had a problem with a rich mixture.

  2. Thanks Darom bought a can of carb cleaner today and will be doing a vacuum test that way. On another note I seem to be having a problem with my front wheel bearings I have replaced them twice now and for some reason or another they keep chirping then the bearing eventually is no good. This is the second time I have replaced the bearing in a week. I am torquing the spindle nut to 25lbs of torque according to my fsm. Has anyone else had problems such as this before? I have been over to atlantic z and looked at the tutorial for changing them over there.

  3. I have a 1977 280z, I have just finished doing body work and paint on the car and that will be in a later post. I am currently however having problems with a backfire out my tailpipe and what seems to be a vacuum leak. I have installed new injectors new plug wires distributor the list goes on and on. The car will be undergoing a engine transplant in the fall but I would like to be able to drive the car until then. I have posted a small 1 minute video of what the car is doing.

  4. I am having a the same trouble morbias, Have you had any luck on figuring out what is going on. Half the time my high beams will work and then last night I was on the highway going home and they randomly shut off on me I had to drive the rest of the way back with only hazard lights. Low beams have never worked on my car.

  5. As the title says I need a Fuel sending unit from a 1977 280z. This is not a fuel pump!! I recently bought a fuel sending unit from the z store but they only sell one for the 1970-74 model and I am unable to wire it up for some reason it keeps reading always full or empty. So looking for a fuel sending unit for a 280z or if anyone has wired one of these up and can tell me how to do it.

  6. I have a 1977 280z, I have replaced the alternator, and voltage regulator but for some reason my battery keeps dieing? I have gone through 2 voltage regulators at auto zone now and they are both reading my alternator is good but my regulator is bad. The guy there said that is impossible that we gave you two voltage regulators one after the other that were bad. Has anyone had this battery draining problem before? Yes the battery is a good battery, its already been tested. I have checked all grounds and they seem fine as well.

  7. I have a 1977 280z. The problem I am having is, I will drive the car down the road and the engine will suddenly idle out. The car will not crank back over, but if I let it sit for 5 mins the engine fires back up and I am able to drive it back to my place. So essentially I thought I was having a fuel starvation issue. I have therefore replaced the fuel pump which was giving me 68 psi worth of fuel to my fuel rail. I have replaced 2 filters and the fuel regulator. I am now getting around 38psi worth of fuel to my rails. However I am still having the problem of the car suddenly idleing out and unable to start unless I let it sit for 5 or so minutes. Other then the Fuel pump, Fuel Filters, Fuel Regulator. I have also replaced the distributor, Thermostat, Starter, Ignition Coil. When I take it out later this evening Ill try to get a short video of what the car is doing. And post it here.

  8. I have a 1977 280z 2.8l Non turbo I just replaced the female injector plug ends. After replacing the plugs the car ran fine shifted through 1st to 4th no loss of power at all. Now 2 days later I am having a loss of power and its bogging down. Any advice?
