  1. yea 300mm hi-spec 4 pots:) work pretty well:) The car (240) thats built at work is a labour of love of the boss. He built it from a scrapper. This means he has all the parts to build a car now he has a cool new shell. I on the other hand have nothing. So like you have pointed out I don't have to use 240 parts like running gear or engine:) I plan to trawl through this site to see what other people are doing, for both engine and suspension. I don't want to reinvent the wheel or for this to take another 8 years lol. maybe 350z or BMW motor??
  2. Thanks:) spent the last 8 years on it but its nearly at the end of the line as far as development goes on both the body and engine. Since that photo I have fitted grp doors and poly windows and saved 20kg per side:) (40 pounds)!!!
  3. by coincidence i was talking to my Boss about this build this morning. He pointed out that the mould for the 240 shell is a multi part mould. The whole sides of the thing bolt on, so i could make a wide body and only have to re-do the sides. This would make it a 'modular' mould that has various options when building. He knows I like the widebody look as we have done it to my Peugeot track/road car. the wide wings would be integral to the sides not just stuck on:) & if its not your thing then the "normal monocoque" shell is still available. here is a pic of my Pug (i love it). sorry its a non z pic:)
  4. Hi all, possibly looking to start on another 240 shell for me as a tack car. With a progress thread/pics and maybe a production model at the end of it??. So if you want to add your expertise or just your opinion then nows the time. As i have said, the design is not set in stone:D
  5. Has anyone got any information or more pics of this 240?? love the look and want to build one:) cheers Throttleton
  6. they have to be tough & safe to set to sea and get passed by the relevant authorities. Also make a Car seem simple:) (i hope the boat pic works)
  7. Also the one that actually exists is built how he wanted it, not necessarily as they would come in production form. the moulds are there but as to whether you want it Carbon fibre or kevlar or other, super light, super strong, with or without the inner steel cage is all down to the individual buyer. They are/would be, a bespoke item so you could even pick the gel coat final color (within reason). I only put the pics up on zcars out of interest. The company has made over 200 frp cars over the years including classic mini's, morgans, sabers and the like. so I knew if the interest was there then they could produce the 240's in numbers. But like i said the design is not set in stone:)
  8. Hi' The weight saving is not in the monocoque (the bit that saves your life!) It is in the rest of the car ( 30kg per door etc.) + no rust + direct swap for all parts. + The point of a grp monocoque is so you don't have to build a tubular chassis:)
  9. Hi Guys, Its Me Throttleton, the guy who posted the stuff about the 240 shells & panels on the zcars website. Leon pointed me in the direction of this site/thread (thanks Leon:) I have now joined up, so if you have any questions or need pics/info, or want to discuss building anything for your cars from FRP then you can now get in touch easily:) cheers guys Throttleton
