  1. I finally finished my engine swap. yahooo!!!! I used an 82 motor/ECU and it it runs well but fowels(spelling) plugs. I used the intake manifold from my 76 (federal model). There is no EGR valve and obviously no factory BOV. I am using a cone filter inside the engine compartment and a KHS BOV. One part i did't use is a thing that plugs into the ECU, intake pipe, EGR valve, Factory BOV, and the intake manifold. Is this the MAP sensor? Also would not using this make my plugs go bad I have the adjustment screw on the AFM backed off almost all the way. I am at a loss. Thanks for any help Tom
  2. I've been ordering parts for my 82zxt engine to 76z swap. I ordered a cut out eliminator from DAWS DEVICES but when i read the directions they say it goes in the vacume line that controls the map sensors. I dont think I have this. Can any one help explain to me if I can use this or not. I do remember removing a air controll something that was located under the AFM and pluged into the ECU. Was it a mistake not to use this in my swap. I'm also using a federal model intake manifold from my76. Thanks for any help, Tom Garnsey
  3. I have one question about my turbo swap. I printed out a post by wannaBREz that is a turbo swap how to guide(very helpfull). His guide is for an 81 zxt swap and I am doing an 82 zxt swap. I have removed all nessary electronic components but, where the yellow ignitor wire plugs into the ecu wiring harnes he shows a six wire plug. My harness has an eight wire plug. I know what three wires are for, the ignitor wire and two black wires run to the fuel pump. This leaves three yellow wires and one yellow w/blue stripe. does any one that has done an 82 swap know what these wires are for? PLEASE any help will be much appreciated.
  4. hey guys, thanx for the comments and words of encouragement. my donor car has 141k on it and i am only the second owner. i dont anticipate any serious hang ups during the swap other than finding the time to do it. lator
  5. Tony, I dint claim to know much and you can plan on me to ask you many anoying questions but if air flows in one end and out the other does it really matter if it is being pulled or pushed?
  6. My name is Tom, I am thirty years old, and i have been obsesed with 280zs since I was thirteen. I have owned a 78 and currently own a sweet 76. I bought a 82 turbo donor car this fall and plan to do a swap of the motor and trany. Today i dug my parts car out of the snow and took it for a drive. I get all seven lbs of boost but it seems to me my stock 280 could take this parts car the way it sits. to any one who has done this swap when did you feel like it was worth your time and money.... after how much money and how much time?
