I'm installing a 1982 fuel tank gauge unit on an 81 because the current one didn't work.... The problem is that once it goes in, the lid doesn't fall into place perfectly.. There's still space. inside the gas tank is like a plastic bucket thing and i know the little filter falls into place but it still won't do.. keep in mind the tank still does have gas...Help anyone thanks

the last time i drove my 1982 280zx was about a week ago....as far as i knew it was fine...since then i tried turning it on and nothing happened...not even a click as in like a sign that it was trying..the radio wouldn't turn on as well...just the light signifying that the key was in... I replaced the battery and still nothing...any tips to check on the car...
