  1. Okay, so i've had a '71 sitting at the shop for quite a while now. Living in Glendale, CA i have no way of getting a brand new '71 master cylinder. They always send me 280 models. What i noticed was that the 240z master cylinders have a different setup than other models. So i hear that people get 280zx master cylinder upgrades for their 4runner or wilwood brake conversions. If i do get another 280 series master cylinder, are there any hardlines to change? 'Cause i don't have any spare hardlines. :*(***
  2. Appreciate the 6cyl's, that's part of the Z pride. All you people that want V8 everything just go buy a domestic. it's not a matter of "balls"... more a matter of "brains"...
  3. Anybody know any shops that specialize in Z body work? I need to get my floors and weatherstrip done because I don't trust myself with the job. thanks, yoog
  4. i ammmmm completely new at dealing with weatherstripping but im willing to learn. i started the replacement process starting with the qtr windows figuring that it should be done before the door seals. i got the inner qtr window seal and the metal frame on. the question is... do i put the outer qtr seal on the window first, and THEN on the body? or vice versa? and is the taller leg towards the outside or inside? if i'm not following the correct order of seal replacement, feel free to provide with the right steps thanks a lot
  5. i have a 71 240z and i thought of the previous owner as a moron when i found he put 280z struts, but i found it doesn't really matter if you're like me and many others; sectioning it. i was gonna section either type anyway. so yes i agree they work.
  6. I just finished the Energy Suspension poly set 2 days ago with my brother. i just got the difficult parts of the front/rear control arms pressed out for cheap. im sure everyone knows but since im still learning about cars i would like to praise myself of finishing these damn poly bushings. it was quite a be hotch for the rear control arm. although poly's are hard to flex they are worth the trouble. to those who have finished and are finishing, live long!
  7. sorry if this was a dumb thread, but thanks for all your support, everyone.
  8. So all i need to do is press the throttle, give it some gas, and start it up?
  9. hmm... i'll look into that, thanks
  10. Hey all. I got an L28 with triple webs in a '71 240 and i was wondering what the easiest way is to hook up the choke cables. any hints or pictures would be nice. thanks everyone.
  11. My apologies for interrupting this thread. I just got new ZeddFindings floors and im gettin ready to put em on. I've been searching forums and read that this POR 15, metal ready, etc needs to be used. I don't know much about replacing floors, so can anyone provide some text or a link to some specific stepbysteps on what to do?
  12. I own a '71 240Z and spotted auctions on a set of keyswitches and seat rails. I found out that the seat rails were off of a 280 and I was wondering if it will match the brackets on the 240. Also, I assumed that all ignition and door/hatch keyswitches can be universally used among all 240, 260, and 280s. Am I wrong? If so, is there a simple and common way to convert mismatching keyswitches to make it work for the desired car model? Thanks.
  13. Hey guys, new member here. just found out about this site through my brother's friend who also has a Z. i've been using classiczcars.com forum and they are more like stock drivers. i'm glad i found this site, it gives me a lot of info. anyway, my brother's shop is right across from a Z shop called "Sunrise Z". they have a genius Z mechanic and he's really cool. He looks so 70's and does what we all love *hint*. well, he said that my L28 with webers will work just fine with unleaded 87 octane. i'm from s.california where its 87,89,91 octane. would you guys agree? cause it sounds too good to be true since gas prices are skyrocketting so damn high.
